Doing The Small Things To Keep Your Customer Coming Back

By Thomas Anderson

Any business, no matter the size , that serves the general public , must keep in mind the customer's first impression . This relates to everything from the first hello when they arrive , to the state of the public restroom facilities. If you permitted your customers to grade the cleanliness, appearance, and overall functionality of your public washrooms, how do you feel you would fare?

Clean and sanitary restrooms in your facility can leave a long lasting , positive impression on customers and visitors. Many business surveys say , washroom condition is a major source of customer dissatisfaction . If your fixtures are old and worn, upgrade them . Replace that old rusty paper towel dispenser with a nice looking Bobrick paper towel dispenser.

Your business may be perfect in every way, but an offensive restroom experience can change visitors impressions in a blink of an eye. unpleasant odors, over crowded conditions, old or worn accessories, or overall untidiness are serious issues, but you have the ability to turn the negative experience into a positive one.

If clients feel good about the condition of the restroom, they're much more inclined to stay longer to consider buying your products and services now, and to return in the future. Business lost because of an offensive restroom is business that might never be back. Whereas, having a clean and inviting bathroom can bring happy customers back to you, as they'll associate your business with that pleasant feeling.

Public bathrooms can be notoriously drab, boring and icy. Businesses , who have public restrooms, should put some thought into making over their bathroom so that it is calm and pleasing, and gives customers an overall pleasing experience. Here is just one example of how decorating can add to the atmosphere of a public washroom.

One of the biggest improvements you can make while decorating a public washroom is to consider some different lighting. Public bathrooms usually have harsh, simple fluorescent lighting. Fluorescent lighting is economical but not very soothing. Solve the problem by going for a classier look. You could install sconces on the walls or even an attractive table with a nice lamp on it to diffuse the bright cast from the overhead fluorescent fixtures.

With the current downturn of the economy many businesses are trying to lower overhead, but the cutbacks should not be on simple things like maintaining the public restroom in top condition. The small savings that result from disregarding your restrooms are not worth putting off your clients.

The washroom fixtures and accessories should always be appealing and in perfect condition . A Bobrick soap dispenser or a Bobrick paper towel dispenser can be a nice addition to almost any restroom. The automatic hand dryer, even the tissue paper holder, though, seemingly small, can cement someone's opinion about a restroom, and the business owners providing it.
