How To Lighten Up The Mood Of A Friend Feeling Blue

By Mandy Saunders

We all feel sad and down. We face life with every inch of our energy and sometimes we go up and sometimes we go down. It is in that moment when we are at our lowest low that we are able to count on our friends. Who will be there when that time comes? And as a friend, how will you be able to help your friend if that happens? Here is how.

Listen to them. People with the blues are often just feeling the need to be heard. So, listen intently to what they say and do nothing else. Your friend will surely appreciate you for being the shoulder she can cry on.

Once you are done listening, you can either offer an advice or you can remain silent and let her feel everything and let it all out by crying. As a friend you might feel obliged to give her an advice but if you have no idea how to, just remain silent and be there for her.

Now that you are able to listen to their problem, give proper advice, and have given a token of gratitude. Try to take their mind off from that memory by keeping her busy but be mindful about how she would feel.

Stay strong for your friend. Not only will your friend be rooting for your strength to help him pull off from his depression, he will also look at you as his anchor. The moment you breakdown, he too will break down.

A hug can make a difference in the world. It makes you feel warm and special. A hug keeps you safe from the harsh world even for just a second that feeling is priceless. So, give your friend a hug when she needs it the most.

Spend time with your friend doing what you do best. If you are fond of going out in the mall or driving around town, do it so often that your friend will be in a better mood.

People might take the easy way out when this happens. They instantly leave you out to deal with your own problems but it is in these trying times that you will be able to separate fake friends from true ones.
