Boost Yourself And Your Productivity With These 5 Methods

By Greg Tilley

Scheduling your time, making to-do-lists and sticking to them, and learning how to prioritize are the tips you've read about. But you can boost yourself and your productivity with these 5 methods.

Have a healthy breakfast to start the day right Breakfast is known to be the day's most important meal. Your metabolism is kicked off and you're provided with your first burst of energy. It would depend on what you eat, but that energy which dramatically increased will slump and never recover by mid morning. To keep you going longer, you need healthy breakfasts with low GI carbs and fruit.

Exercise Not everyone can go to the gym for an early morning workout so a brisk walk from the subway to the office will work wonders for your energy levels unlike donuts and a coffee. For five minutes, take a fast walk up and down the nearest stairs if you feel tired at your desk. You will feel energised and refreshed, and be more productive.

Look your best We can't all be supermodels, and we don't have personal hairdressers and stylists to make us look like a million bucks. What we can do is make an effort to look our best, regardless if its just neat hair and clothes that fit well, or polish our nails and wear some makeup. You'll feel better if you give it your best and if you feel that you look good, then you'll be more productive.

Boring tasks shouldn't be avoided This is something each and every job has, and these boring, repetitive, and mundane tasks doesn't do anything to stimulate you. They have to be done, and some jobs have more of them than others. Those tasks won't be done any faster if you work yourself into a depression about them and it won't make them any more fun to do. If you want to relieve the boredom, then try interspersing the boring jobs with something that you like doing at work. When you're finished with the boring stuff, think about the relief you'll feel and you can then move onto something else, so you better get them done. You might as well get the mundane stuff over with quickly.

Avoid the complainers There are people who spend a lot of time complaining about things like their spouses, children, homes, jobs, bosses, and their lives in general and every company has them. You'll believe the complaints are valid and you'd start complaining yourself if you spend time with them. The people you should join for lunch instead are the positive, enthusiastic, and motivated people.

The thing about productivity is that it affects other aspects of work, not just how efficiently you get your current job done. Your chances of promotion as well as your ability to extend yourself, learn new tasks that could lead to a promotion, and the perception of people around you are what it can affect. Being productive can affect far more than how many papers you can file in a day.
