Creating Corporate Stationary Can Help A Company Be Successful

By Gnifrus Urquart

While running the day to day operations of a business is not easy, deciding on letterhead can be equally as challenging of a task in some respects. Creating corporate stationary is more than having a name printed at the top of a page. Font style, color choice, and inclusion of a logo are all issues that need to be decided and agreed upon.

Most business owner's are too involved with financial transactions, employees, inventory, and reputation to take time to think about how effective company letterhead is. In fact, there are times when the business owner will ask another member of the company to take care of this issue. The truth of the matter is letterhead is more important than one may think. Letters are often times the first communications a customer or client has with a business. When a very inexpensive, plain, boring letterhead is chosen, this tends to tell the individual reading the letter there is not much prestige or success associated with that company.

Strong businessmen and women want to come across as proficient leaders. A weak printing on flimsy paper suggests an unstable company. This is why it is essential to make intelligent choices when picking paper quality and print type. Beyond the paper letter's are printed on, envelopes and business cards are also included in the design process.

There are some steps that can be taken to avoid creating a weak stationary set. The first step is to pick a quality paper. This means something thicker than copy machine paper. To stand apart from competitors, it is also advised to opt for a paper color other than white. Off-white, light gray, pale yellow, and tan are good options. In addition to standing out from other businesses, customer's and client's who will be reading the letters will not have quite as much eye strain.

Beyond paper selection for letters, envelopes, and business cards, the print style needs to be determined. There are many suitable fonts to pick from; however, calligraphy and other fancy lettering may be difficult for some people to read. Staying with clearly legible lettering is recommended.

Lastly, graphics need attention. Graphic artists can make a logo for a company or a staff member can create it. Either option will work. What is important is that the graphic or logo match the service the business represents.

Corporate stationary receives more attention than most staff members realize. This is why it is so very important to opt for quality. Letterhead speaks volumes about any given business.
