By Alyssa Prase

The definition of "going green" once started being a trend among environmental-loving people. As this trend continually spread like wildfire, going green is thought to be a movement. There are many organizations which were intended to provide an exhaustive promotion of accomplishing acts to aid the environment. They continually urge people to conserve the environment through their courses and so they criticize and set campaigns against those who find themselves destructive for the environment. The "green movement" has now been embedded in our culture and its particular influence will flourish to the years into the future.

The business sector has also picked up on this specific movement. However, they are criticized negatively for using this movement to gain profit. Critics would say that these huge business organizations use the going green movement as an excuse to reduce cost. Such acts have been referred to as "green washing" (a portmanteau of the words "green" and "brainwashing"). They say that these companies have been embracing the green culture just for the sake of saving and earning more money. Businesses are doubted for being "insincere" when it comes to going green.

It's ironic that this type of good cause could be taken negatively when practiced by some industries. If this labeling continues to persist, people may fully recognize this stereotype for the business sectors and fall under the assumption that they will really don't went "green", instead they need more "green" within their accounts. In reply to these allegations, companies used environmental public relations tools to pay off out their image and settle the problem for good.

Precisely what do we exactly mean once we say "environmental public relations"? This term actually refers back to the different strategies utilized by companies to make sure that their efforts in assisting save the environment are true. Given the accusations they have been receiving happen to be very negative, these PR efforts might help pacify the folks making them understand that these criticisms may not be true at all. Environmental public relations can be classified into many types. When we speak of energy conservation issues, companies have energy PR efforts. When the problem of pollution is mentioned, you have the idea of pollution public relations.

These attempts are exhaustively implemented to persuade the public that organizations are true of their acts towards a cleaner environment. While this will likely fall as suspicious to others, we will never really just pinpoint who might be sincere and who is not. The usage of public relations is not only to prove which a company is honest on their deeds, additionally it is a trial to subjugate the recurring stereotype thrown against them.
