The Many Uses For Promotional Products

By Ann Christopher

Promotional marketing is the art of giving everyday items to your marketing demographic, in the hopes that their daily exposure to them will make them turn to you. Though the idea of giving is simple enough, the hard part is finding the right item to give, as you never know when company items will go into the trash.

To begin, you need an item that's cheap but worthwhile and is likely never to leave the home or office space of someone. Take a pen for instance, it's generally held in a persons hand, written with on a daily basis and has a company's logo and contact information. So regardless of whether your customers are writing their notes or their check, your name is going to be on the back of their mind. Additionally, if the pen were to be given to another person, another bystander gets to take in your company's mission. Another great example is a calendar or lighter. Calendars often hung in the office, not only act as an every day reminder, they are used for notes and important reminders for events. Lighters work well with smoker populations, as a smoker are unable to smoke without one. T shirts work well in social functions, since they drive curiosity from bystanders.

It is usually not a good idea to invest a lot of money into your advertising products unless they serve a worthwhile purpose. A gold plated pen for example could be good for a high profile executive, but giving one to a regular salary worker will most likely be overdoing it. Things like napkins at an eating affair would be fine or note reminders, since they can be purchased in bulk cheaply and they get passed around enough for the value to set in.

Cups and wallets have been used before. They are often feasible to acquire and serves a daily role for a person. Cups can be brought to work, whereas a wallet has to be dug out daily. Fridge magnets have company phone and website information on them, just like a daily lunchbox or notebook. Prepaid greeting cards make good promotional products, as they can be mailed off to another person, literally gaining the attention of two people.

If you take these promotional product ideas to heart, promotional marketing shouldn't be difficult. Discover a worthwhile product, ensure it fits the budget and make sure it is going to be seen and used by a lot of individuals.
