Do not forget that in PR, preparation is the key. Ninety-nine percent of the efforts take place behind the stage and only one percent is the glamorous "15-minutes-of-fame". There are a lot of things that could go wrong and you cannot just ignore the consequences. When you want to use PR, take all the blinders off and look at every situation from every angle.

* Don't trust a journalist to do the job for you. Media relation is actually part of public relations; however, you should never leave everything to them - simply because it is not their job. They are only needed to communicate the truth to their audience and their role is to publicize news that is valuable to their advertising public. It can be dangerous for your company, if you leave everything to them.

* Don't lie in PR particularly if you have plans to inflate the truth because its only way is to come back to you or backfire at you. If you lie in PR, sooner or later, it will be discovered and you'll have more work in damage control picking up the pieces.

It will be a good idea to consult an experienced PR professional who will guide you in the process of public relations. They know the industry and they know the ways you should use and not use PR.
